I was really enjoying the show until they did the Iraqi war. It was so poorly done. I was surprised. They suggested we had a hard time finding the enemy an area that was half the size of Germany. That just wasn’t true. We had detailed maps of the enemy positions right down to the individual tank and artillery gun locations. (Great MI work) Also, they didn’t explain the heavy air and artillery hammering the positions as we approached. Combined arms was key. Yes, the Abrams was amazing. Hitting targets while on the move out to 4,000+ meters. The power, accuracy, plus highly trained crews made it a walk-over. The T-72 could barely see us let alone hit our tanks at that distance. Besides, they were trying to survive the relentless pounding by air including fixed wing, A-10’s and helicopters, then 1,000’s of artillery munitions, followed by tanks and Bradley’s taking them out as their soldiers tried to get back in the vehicles. That’s what happened. Most surrendered but some fought and died. The Russians clearly did not learn from this as we saw them try to drive large tank columns down the roads in the Ukraine this past year to disastrous results. Fight combined arms or get your people killed. Simple lesson they haven’t seemed to learn.
