Not the worst Star Wars, but by far the least creative; some would wager that such an attribute is far worse. It pathetically revisits everything the series has once done, the droids appearing on a sand world with a stranger leading the protagonist to the resistance to blow up the third death star/Starkiller Base. The only apparent changes are style, substance, and canonical order of events. Which in my opinion made it an even bigger disappointment considering the wait for the film to be released. It took 32 years to horribly remake A New Hope with less charm and more campy dialogue. I've never despised a movie, but I can say that of all the Star Wars movies, no matter how boring, they've never been so needlessly unimaginative.
The only reason it deserves one star at all is because the following sequels were true to heart Star Wars sequels, and were absolutely amazing. And that is the true credit this movie deserves, at least it inspired something much, much better.
