The Absurdist

Inside is a masterclass of suspense and horror in an otherwise seemingly torture-porn escapade of endurance. The sheer brutality doesn't take away from the otherwise heart-felt message carried at the center, beyond the agony of the events proceeding. What would you do to protect your child? It's over exploitation of the violence is an otherwise agonizing experience that puts you into an almost trance, each shot filling you with almost agony, not only for the protagonist, but in yourself to, being that a great swell of sympathy is garnered by this movie. And the finale of this beautiful movie is one that's so perfect in it's twist, or in the world that it presents, transitioning from Grindhouse, to absolute horror-fantasy in a perfect accordance with the rest of the movie. It's an experience that will hurt just as much as the first time, and is even more beautiful the more you watch it.

Not the worst Star Wars, but by far the least creative; some would wager that such an attribute is far worse. It pathetically revisits everything the series has once done, the droids appearing on a sand world with a stranger leading the protagonist to the resistance to blow up the third death star/Starkiller Base. The only apparent changes are style, substance, and canonical order of events. Which in my opinion made it an even bigger disappointment considering the wait for the film to be released. It took 32 years to horribly remake A New Hope with less charm and more campy dialogue. I've never despised a movie, but I can say that of all the Star Wars movies, no matter how boring, they've never been so needlessly unimaginative. The only reason it deserves one star at all is because the following sequels were true to heart Star Wars sequels, and were absolutely amazing. And that is the true credit this movie deserves, at least it inspired something much, much better.
