I was super excited for this book and the first few chapters I was looking forward to how they were going to stop the plant and Queen Wasp. I was hoping that each one of the dragons from each tribe did something to help kill the plant, like Pineapple's camouflage, Moon's mind reading, Sundew's leafspeak, etc. But that didn't happen. Luna was in the cave 2/3 of the book while all the action was happening elsewhere. All the exciting and good characters got shipped off to do something more important and so the characters that were left were kinda boring.
Also I feel like Axolotl and Pineapple were there purely bc they were gay and non- binary or something. Which seemed kinda unnecessary.
The mindspace thing was super confusing and I kinda wish that Luna didn't get captured by the other mind and instead swordtail got captured in the abyss and she had to get him out along with all the dragons from other tribes :)
When Luna was looking at Cottonmouth's memories, I was so bored, for like 4 chapters too. It felt like a bad history lesson. And the perspectives of the humans were pretty lame, like "we need the dragons for poooweerr"
The prophecy didn't even fit together with the train of events either ๐ "Face a great evil *with talons united*" did NOT happen.
Also I kinda wanted to see a run down of all the lives of ALL the characters at the end. But I understand that Tui has been writing WoF for like 10 years so I can tell why this book was such a let down, but yea.
