I didn't grow up watching that 70s show, I'm 24 and loved the show when I got around to discovering it, while I wasn't a 90s kid, all of the references were extremely relatable and this show does an amazing job of honoring the original with a more updated take on the time. While it is true that red and kitty are definitely the past characters in the show (due to thier experience in portraying the characters) the new cast is doing a great job of what they are intended to do. Sure, the original was focused around Eric for the majority, but the show is without question more about the group as a whole and their individual characteristics. This show takes a slightly different angle but without a doubt does a great job of providing an entertaining and new story for a new (yet very similar) group of teens in the 90s. I believe anyone hating the show is doing so because it isn't what they expected, but who goes into a brand new show and story having deep expectations? This isn't the rings of power bringing a screen apadaptation to an already renowned story from books. It's a similar representation within an established show in a different time. And it does an excellent job!
