I am a matrix super fan. I have watched the movies, especially the original, countless times so it was easy to identify each subtle and not so subtle rip off from past movies. One reviewer mentioned nostalgia pandering. Plagiarism is how I would describe The Matrix: Resurrections. The original matrix brought to mainstream the Ghost In the Shell, world within a world plot. Ironically (or satirically) this fourth addition begins with a boardroom conversation about how to bring back The Matrix in the most commercially optimized format....then the movie proceeds to do exactly this through two hours of mashup riffs from the three previous movies, but mostly sourced directly from the original. it's not an exaggeration to say that if one were to pay for the first three, the fourth should be free since it is literally just a collage of lines (yes, actual lines), story lines, characters, scenes, and even music from the trilogy. In fact the end credits even rip off the original rage against the machine song. It's discouraging to know people get paid massive amounts of money to copy/paste and completely hollow out such a great movie for ticket sales.
