Christina Sword

I’m a bookseller. I read a lot of books, and this is my favorite book of 2024 so far. I have problems selling it because of the cover. The prose is lyrical without being sentimental. This book takes you outside and makes you not only fall in love with the land but become part of it. The story , one of what it means to be human; connections, decisions and repercussions, that none of us ever see vividly except in hind sight, all unfold naturally without telling us, the reader, what we are supposed to think or feel about any of it. We are simply to bear witness to this man’s humanity.
