I don't even know where to begin with how much I hated and now, as a HUGE Halloween fan who grew up with the franchise, resent this movie. Michael wasn't in it all that much, most of the dialogue was embarrassingly contrived, the victims were stupid to the point where most of them were practically begging to die. I understand these are common movie horror tropes and might have been intentional, but such a departure from the serious, grounded mood of the first film and the 2018 film is jarring. The poor inflated attempt to expand the lore was just padding. A few shockingly bad special effects, and I'm not talking about the campy, entertaining kind. A VERY poignant CG moment was hilarious in the worst way. Gore simply for gore's sake is cheap and this film is full of it. Watch the trailer and you've seen most of the decent scenes. I intensely suspect that the screenplay was written with Silver Bullet in mind, only a terrible version of it. I'm only giving a second star because Jamie Lee Curtis is a master, even when delivering a bad dialogue.
