Great, lots of fun, and Hugh Grant is truly outstanding. Many critics love it, many pan it by saying it is nothing new. Really, let's face it, there is not a lot that is new after so many years of movies, and T V. But when something is so well and affectionately done as this movie, it is a pleasure to watch.

I must agree with those saying visually great BUT too slow, meandering and too many boring bits. I have now seen 5 episodes and it never takes off and is internally illogical. Asimov's and Seldon's point, also stated early in the TV series, is that you cannot predict what an individual will do, but you can predict how large population masses will behave, a mathematics of mass behavior given the various social pressures faced. The book shows this development and is fascinating, the series abandons it for new plots of bang bang battles and individuals with special magic type powers or abilities... For example Salvador Hardin in the books is a mayor who realizes the way for his planet's little society to survive is to play off the planets around his against each other to protect his - a necessity that Seldon's math predicted would have to happen. In the tv series all this is abandoned - Hardin is a warrior and has special supernatural abilities with magic visions... And it's all drawn out so-o-o slo-o-o-w with too little explanation... After five episodes I give up.
