Honest and realistic. Showing important historic movement and particularly a young woman's point of view. Watch a couple of times before judging. Her effort to get it right shows, and a higher tech would diminish the message.

I am not experienced with literary reviews. I can only say that the historical characterizations (I was really excited to read of Maimonides in a context I never knew.) brought these events and their place in the greater stream into vivid images. If you don't like it, write your own review; this is what I think. I love Noah Gordon's works.
