I am halfway into the book, I've read the haunting/hunting adeline as well. The lack of effort put into her writing is disheartening. I was interested in Molly's backstory, otherwise I wouldn't have picked up another of her books. If I'm being honest, I thought the author was a dude when I first read the HA books because of the lack of awareness to sex and things that people don't allow to happen to themselves if they are feeling for that person (this is to each there own, I wouldnt say it was a deterrent to reading and I wont detail for spoiler reasons***). However, there felt like there was no research to how survivors of trauma react to those areas when doing the deed post healing, and this author continues to nearly literally "salt the wounds" and the mmc expects that to heal the girls mind when they see the scar the next time. Also her attention to detail in this book, was the last straw for me with this author. Pg 5, there is an upstairs to her house, pg 87-90 she said it was a one floor house, and then immediately goes up stairs to retrieve something. Where is the editor??? The spelling and grammar errors in all three books pulls me from the story everytime.
***One example for this without a spoiler and a reference to a different author, any scene that is outdoor, especially a chase (and many girl in horror movie forest branch trips) where there is dirt and mud all over both characters hands, and then it goes to hygiene sensitive parts gave me a big ick when it wasn't addressed, and/or she wasn't allowed to clean up. But the L.O.R.D. series had similar scenes and addressed she got a uti from it, and/or the mmc helped clean her up, and the aftercare was there. It added to a sense of "this is just rapey, zade".
