Loved to see Maniratnam’s version of ponniyin Selvan-1. Loved the setting of the film, casting -some that worked beautifully in favour -Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Jayaram, Vikram, Aishwarya lekshmi (Not Rai) ,Vinodhini and Parthiban. Aishwarya rai was beautiful (Duh, Obviously) but in my opinion failed to bring the personality of the character properly in terms of the act-I guess it’d probably just me but I wish it would’ve been great if Priyamani was playing Nandini. Although I loved the music, I just wish the songs weren’t there everywhere- Took away a certain sense of authenticity. This movie is a definite recommendation for the Tamil audience because of higher relatabilities. People who speak other languages might find it difficult to keep up with the characters/Names and the layering of history~ Political, Religious, regional and subtlety. I loved how grand of a scale and aesthetically our history was and has been depicted. Glued to the screens- waiting for the next part.
