Out of 10 I would rate this game a 6.5 out of 10. It's a fun game and the game play is the big draw point to this game.
Pokemon is always a good rpg for anyone because of the main catching mechanic as opposed to basic fighting and leveling up set characters in most rpg's. It really makes you think about your team when you have so many options.
Grinding is not a problem in this game. The battles begin and end fairly quickly and unlike the older entries in the series even if a Pokemon party member doesn't fight in that battle it still earns exp which while making the game a lot easier also makes each battle feel so much more rewarding.
Honestly the biggest downside to this game is the animation and graphics side of thing. The game doesn't look the greatest apart from a few of the towns. The switch is very capable of handling heavier graphics then this, just look at BOTW, Mario Odyssey or Dragon Quest XI.
I am aware that GF sacrificed the amount of Pokemon for better char models and smoother animation though I don't think this was worth it at all. I would have so much preferred rare animation and a ton more Pokemon and would have totally understood why animation was limited. OR I would have preferred fully animated battles with the amount of Pokemon we got. Moves like Tail whip and body slam look like parodies to what they should actually be.
This is just a small point I would like to add on that's not too much of a problem. I think it's disappointing that there are only two wild areas to explore. However I am glad that there are wild areas, these fit the roaming Pokemon style so well. I hope GF add more in the next Pokemon game because they are awesome.
I would recommend this game when it is on sale. It's not worth $80 AUD ($55 USD).
