I was excited that Kevin Smith was doing this. I read his comics, watched his movies, and listen to his pod cast. I thought he would honor He-man. He-man was my favorite growing up. I still have my castle Greyskull prominently displayed in my house. I have shown my children the original. Now that you can understand my perspective here is my review.
Non-spoiler
For someone with no knowledge of he-man or that doesn't mind being misled by advertising or titles this is a well done show. The animation is good, the story is good, the music is good. So you may ask why the two stars. It is because the show is not ultimately about He-man. The show is more about Teela. This would be like signing up to watch Jerry Seinfeld and getting a show all about Elaine. There is a lot of nostalgia in the show with a lot of the toys and early characters being paraded across your TV episode after episode, which was my favorite part of the show.

The first episode seemed to be going great. He-man versus the hoards of Skelator. But there were clues in this episode. One is when Teela got promoted to Man-at-Arms or when on the first episode Skelator gets into the heart of Greyskull. By the end of the episode He-man and Skelator are both virtually dead. They whole band just disperses and the king outlaws every thing.
We then change over to the Teela show with a few glimpses of heman frome her memory. But for the rest of the show we don't see heman. We do see Adam but the moment he is brought back they kill him again (after killing of favorites like Orko and Roboto).
It felt like the show is the journey of Teela to either become the next heman or sorceress.
Though as I said I loved seeing a ton of beloved characters such as Trapjaw, beastman, Evillynn, Merman (though I mis his old voice) Faker, whiplash, Clawful, Mossman, Stinker, and many more plus various rides and locations.
