I loved the comic books and I thought the show had great potential. I understand shows can’t be a 100% percent like the books they are based off of. But I don’t understand why they changed the characters powers and origin.
They actresses and actors they chose were fantastic. When watching the show the actors really brought the characters to life. I enjoyed the first bit of the first episode but couldn’t finish the whole episode.
I felt Disney had an opportunity to make a cooking of age story about a second generation Muslim girl. We could’ve seen her struggles with her identity and learning to figure out who she is. Learning how to embrace her culture and love herself. Like I felt like she did in the comics especially the first one.
But by changing her power origins and that whole comic con seen I felt like it was a made out to be a joke. Little kids will love it and think it’s funny but I was hoping the target audience would be 16+. To me it should have been made for an older audience. So many young women need role models especially ones that don’t get shown in the media as often. I like the idea of comic con but not how it played out.
I liked the other shows but this was a pass for me. I think it missed the mark.
