Watch as this film transitions its meaning from the characters as Joker and Harley and their regular counterparts, and see if you can actually read how the courtroom comes to its actual case. Nothing about Joker's act is actually a false representation of what he would present himself as. What is transcendent about the movie, like the first film, is how there is a double plot able to be seen at once, that's what Joker Folie a Deux is, only it does so as us being asked to actually read the different people with the kind of intelligence we would have knowing about those scenes, but how can we think about knowing those from what is given to the scenes we objectively see presented and what they can say about them. See it again, if you already have, there's a secret in the movie, Joker is not playing, he's actually Joker, what you think might be whimsy in a disassociated other state is actually him making his case, and if you see it, you will see The Joker being actually alive dancing not like a dream but like he is actually there challenging the injustice of his own condemnation and the brutality of Gotham City, such that even everything he says by his Joker personality is a rise out of the darkness so that the evil clown who may just be another person in the mix of the spaces of that world is right there challenging you to see who he is.
