I was born in 1960. I remember my grandmother talking about this story when I was growing up. I’ve read the book and seen both movies. In my life I’ve seen this same story play over and over again. People get murdered because of a rumor. If people think they can take something from you, they will kill you to get it. Even if you don’t have it. If they think you have it, they will kill you.
