Ground breaking book- unpopular opinion I guess after reading all of these reviews! It was a truly magnificent read, Sally Rooney has managed to capture the complexities of everyday life so wonderfully and almost poetically. Despite what others have said about the political element of the novel approaching on pretentious, I beg to differ. If you’re not someone particularly interested in politics (which I hope doesn’t describe most people) then I suppose this book isn’t for you. However, for the most part, the emails between Eileen and Alice documenting politics and other such historical events were dare I say intelligent, and.. interesting!? Amazing read, would recommend. Has that slight soulful feel of her other two books that makes you want to be a 20 year old in Ireland living a quaint life. LOVE IT!
