Who the hell did the casting for this remake. My Mum was brought up in a village down south and in the 50's there were no black or asian people. If you make a programme set in a 50's village then it has to be true to the times or it just looks riduculous as sadly this show does. It is nothing like the original and the Larkins do not have the warmth the original family had. David Jason and Pam Ferris had a wonderful connection and the family were believable. Charlie was a bookish educated shy and nieve young man who soon forgot his career as soon as he saw marriette and immediately became one of the family. The new charlie is nothing like him. The new mariette is not as glamourous as Catherine zeta Jones. The family just seem disjointed and have absolutely no chemistry. The original had the 50's atmosphere. I like Bradley Walsh but not in this. I was so disappointed I went out and bought the original from Amazon.
