As a school social worker, the Zones of Regulation Curriculum helped me plan and engage students K-5 in weekly lessons. I was even able to write IEP goals around the zones to help children learn to manage strong emotions. The identification of feelings by using a color coded chart will help de-escalate and distract acting out behaviors in children as young as Kindergarten. Older grades can learn to assess their own behaviors and think of others and how they might be affected by those behaviors. Students enjoyed drawing pictures of how they looked in the green zone (happy) or the red zone (angry). It worked well with my students with Autism. Additionally, the curriculum and printable work pages were made available for online use during the Covid 19 shut down.
This is a wonderful curriculum and it made my job much easier.
