I find myself sitting on the fence agreeing with both the negative and positive reviews here. Yes, lots of it was utterly ludicrous *SPOILER ALERT* (that a mother would swap her child at birth to save it from the inevitable wrath of her husband. Really?) but then again I do love a good panto villain getting their come uppance. I have no idea what the chef had to do with the story. It was like they had a plot device which they abandoned during filming and couldn’t be bothered to edit out. At least it was a self contained story concluded over four episodes. You can never be sure with ITV dramas these days. Anyway, despite many reservations I quite enjoyed it.

I loved this show. There were some real laugh out loud moments and the dialogue was great. The two main characters (three if you include Colin) were very likeable. My only minor quibble was with episode 7. Why would someone like Ash have such a wide circle of unanimously dreadful friends? It just didn’t ring true. Otherwise it was a fantastic binge watch and very believable. It came to a well constructed, satisfactory conclusion and I’d personally leave it at that.

Tremendous. Refreshingly free of contrived dramatisation.
