John Stamos

As a filmmaker with something to say Scorsese has always mattered (even his misses-like this). The acting is first rate and the ditigal make up is at times mesmerizing but overall it is a bloated talkie. I would say cut 90 minutes of this turgid effort but that would be difficult too as there is probably not two hours of interesting footage left. A questionable story by a questionable blarney slinging criminal about people we (the audience) don’t care about. Zero rooting factor and zero (even dark) humor which pock marks all great efforts in this genre (including “Goodfellas” which Scorsese did get right nearly thirty years ago). Not compelling enough as a “long story” (like “Boardwalk Empire” which he likewise had a hand in on as well). 🎬🎬1/2 out of 4
