This movie failed to hit the mark in my eyes. Maybe because I am a fan of the original movie, but Anne Hathaway just did not deliver a powerful performance that the Grand High Witch is known for. Anne Hathaways “unique portrayal” does not even hold a candle to Anjelica Huston’s 1990 incredible performance. Who carries the film in my opinion, is Octavia Spencer delivering a captivating character while putting her own welcoming personality into the performance. The CGI was over the top and noticeably fake. I much preferred the practical effects from the 1990 version. Very disappointed with this movie overall.

One of my favourite films this year. I was not expecting everything to be so good, from the acting, (Dylan O’Brien gives a fantastic performance and knows how to be comical and when to be serious - excellent at conveying emotion. The acting from the rest of the cast was fantastic, Ariana Greenblatt had me laughing lots.) The effects were vivid and so realistic! This movie was a pleasant surprise, it’s unfortunate that it did not get its time to shine at the box office, it sure deserved it!

Principal photography for this film took 10 day. 10 days and it shows. Chad and Bruce delivered good performances. The two main criminals, lacked dimension, realism and were straight up not convincing. I think there was more potential in this film.
