Youkilled killer

I watched this back to back with the old TV version, and having never read the book (I know, I need to get on that). It was interesting to see the differences that a 45 year cinema gap will bring to a story. Some things are changed and moved around. Some scenes make more sense in this version, I think, and some scenes less. There are a few things I don't think I've seen in any vampire movie, like the light up crosses and the twist nesting spot at the end, that I think are pretty cool. I'm not totally sold on the Master Vampire's look, I think a lot of other movies (and TV) have done it better. He seemed almost plastic looking, like bad cosmetic surgery. I also think the harmonica was a wasted opportunity, creepy harmonica playing in the fog would have been a cool. Overall this is a solid vampire movie.

A lot of toilet humour, a lot of 'Isn't that so weird' cringe humour that misses the mark, and skits that go on a little too long after the punch line.

There is some hokeyness, and a hangar briefing scene right out of 'Aliens', but overall it's an entertaining film. J-lo can really act, and the mechs are cool. The story hits all of the right beats for the arc. It's worth a watch.

It's a pretty good movie, but you know when it would have been a good time to try talking with the Dragon? When you're in the 'safe zone'!

If you think of it as a Saturday morning cartoon loosely based off of the first movie you'll be less disappointed. Don't expect any of the magic of the original.

Maybe 'the emptiness' from the second movie should have won.
