I watched this back to back with the old TV version, and having never read the book (I know, I need to get on that).
It was interesting to see the differences that a 45 year cinema gap will bring to a story.
Some things are changed and moved around. Some scenes make more sense in this version, I think, and some scenes less.
There are a few things I don't think I've seen in any vampire movie, like the light up crosses and the twist nesting spot at the end, that I think are pretty cool.
I'm not totally sold on the Master Vampire's look, I think a lot of other movies (and TV) have done it better. He seemed almost plastic looking, like bad cosmetic surgery.
I also think the harmonica was a wasted opportunity, creepy harmonica playing in the fog would have been a cool.
Overall this is a solid vampire movie.
