Not what I was hoping for :(
I’ve only played the demo at this point but I’d like to put some positives in this review because I don’t think it’s all bad!! I really liked the cutscenes and unique fighting abilities of the different characters. I think that’s really cool and so, so valid if that’s your kinda thing that you like in video games.
But I do certainly have some gripes...
First of all, I’m really disappointed with the movement in general??? The way the screen kind of jumps around when you begin to run (it hurts my eyes), the way you kind of glitch back into place when you lock onto an enemy. It’s confusing and very disorienting at best. I have a hard time remembering controls, too, so the whole game just felt like me pressing buttons instead of being really immersed in the experience of playing. I think what made Breath of the Wild so special to me was how open it felt. It was a beautiful story placed in a world that seemed almost endless. Its characters were interesting, even tear-jerking at times, and I just didn’t feel that freedom when I played this.
I can’t really write my feelings, I think, but this game feels...unfinished. It feels like it should be more. But it’s not and it’s a little disappointing :,) if you enjoyed this game I’m so glad for you (/srs). I hope you play to your heart’s content & have a lot of fun doing so. Maybe it’s just not my cup o’ tea :)
