A great movie it isn't what you are expecting going into it. And I think some of the criticism is valid it isn't a movie for everyone. The cinematography and the subtle story telling brought it together and the pacing and side stories gave the overwhelming affect of that of a medieval transcript or story long winded and frequently off track. Many people gave negative reviews with the basis of disliking the main charecter and thinking him a coward but that was the point. You weren't supposed to root for him but simply view the story and see and the bravery appeared in the end and was shown in small ways rather than large. the message is hard to discern and complex and the true meaning I think is intended and in full view but can still be left to interpretation. I thought it was a thought provoking beautiful movie that left me thinking about it for hours after I look forward to rewatching it and viewing the small details that were missed before. I have conflicted feelings about my opinion on the charecter but I left satisfied and I think that was the point you shouldn't see him as a hero but rather a man. This is all my perspective on this movie however and many others would disagree I say view it for yourself rather than rely on reviews and form your own opinion you may hate it or like me you may love it I think it depends on the individual
