The overworld idea is cool for a Pokémon game, however it is so confusing at the beginning of the game to figure out where to go. Once you get it down, then there’s still a ton of obstacles in order to get a decent “Pokémon bike” to progress the game. Third, the games state you can battle the leaders in order which although true, is not what it appears. The ice gym leader has level 40+ Pokémon and if you start with her your team will obviously get wiped right away. The gym leader’s Pokémon do not lower themselves to your badge level which is frustrating and a wasted opportunity if you ask me. Fourth the cut scenes are just unbearable and there are so many cut scenes you need to go through to complete the game. Last, the game story is very bland, predicable, and not even worth following. I understand Pokémon is trying to make a new style game that is fun and going to challenge players, but in doing so they have taken a lot of what I love about the old Pokémon games away. They should have just stuck with legends arceus and left it there.
