** SPOILER ALERT**
Overall, I enjoyed the film a lot, however I felt there was a lack of consistency in the story lines that didn’t quite flow (three for me). The first, hikers in Tibet who inadvertently discover a mysterious entity that possesses one of them, eventually killing off his companions (for no apparent reason). The second, a teen “horror flick” that never develops, other than them all turning up mysteriously dead after partaking in a dare in which they each blow into a bottle to summon the “Empty Man.” *spoiler alert* They all end up dead and we never get to see any of the scary apparitions they were hoping to summon or any of the terror or chase they experience. And third, the story of the main character, an ex-cop, in search of a missing person (one of the teens), who we learn is actually involved in a cult who serve as “receivers” for the entity to create a new vessel for it to continue inhabiting. The film ends in a Wicker Man” type twist, when we finally realise the ex-cop IS the new vessel for the entity. Unfortunately, we never learn who or what the entity is, why it needs a cult, why, if it WANTS a cult, it kills off its original hiker companions (they could have been the first members), or what happened to the kids the following days after they blew into a bottle on the bridge?? Still, the film was overall compelling and kept me interested until the end and had some good acting + editing in some parts. I give it one thumb up and one down.
