I decided to make it a point to record and watch The Tamron Hall Show because I’m a fan of Tamron Hall, the journalist. When she left NBC because of what she refers to as a demotion, I was incensed on her behalf and became an even stronger supporter of hers. You can imagine my exuberance when she revealed that she would be the host of her own Talk Show. Tamron is a brilliant woman, and great journalist and so I had high expectations.
Tha Tamron Hall show is an enjoyable one. Tamron Hall has so much energy and is so personable and relatable that it’s impossible to not smile and laugh and root for her even more during that one hour. But that’s not a substantive comment, so I will move on. You can tell that Tamron is a journalist. The questions she asks are meant to get in-depth answers and not superficial ones; that’s the journalist in her. But then that also poses a problem. Some of her guests, to me anyway, didn’t seem to want to give in-depth answers and so I found myself getting frustrated. She would keep asking specific questions that would make for answers with substance, but either some of the guests didn’t understand, or were resisting digging deeper. Sometimes, because of that, she would interrupt them, maybe, like me, getting frustrated, instead of allowing them to speak, and that too was quite annoying, and frustrating. I understand that she was trying to get them to open up, but maybe they would get to that point if given time, or also maybe not. That being said, however, this is a one-hour show and every segment is timed down to the second and so I get why it’s done.
I am also of the opinion that the show’s producers are covering too many segments in the show resulting in not enough time being allotted to cover any one segment adequately. Still, this show is one that I’ll continue to watch because this show isn’t afraid to cover issues that are considered controversial. Tamron is nonjudgmental and is willing to really listen and allow persons to tell their stories. She is friendly and open and, as I said at the beginning, full of energy. This show that she hosts is about creating a community that is willing to listen to everybody, open to engaging in conversations or discussions that causes us discomfort, challenges us to be ourselves irrespective of what others may say and help us understand that we are all in this together, because this is the “Hall” that we’re building together.
I’ll continue to watch and I’m encouraged by the show’s format today, December 2nd, 2019, that was less crowded.
