I saw a clip about Rachel a few years ago and couldn't stop being amused by it. Probably shook my head a few times too. Now that I watched the documentary, I still feel a fraud of sorts has been committed. Working for the NACCP and masquerading as a black woman is a comedy script like the Black Klansman. You look a little deeper and she was married to a black man, has black children and adopted brothers, which does in my view give her a right to interfere in black matters on behalf of her children. She comes across as a very intelligent and an artistically gifted person. I would buy her paintings. At worst her views are a little strange. Certainly don't think her intent was to offend. Certainly isn't white privilege. It's everyone's right, not a privilege, to feel comfortable with who they are. Honestly imagine being the only white person in a black community with black children. That has to be a little uncomfortable for all. As long as she looks after her children and hasn't killed anyone she needs to be applauded as a mother. From what I can tell she has done a lot more for the black community than a lot of people. There has to mal intent to have done anything wrong. She is not a danger to the community. Stop bullying her with your social resentments. Still doesn't quite sit right, but the wrong is all your bullying.

Certainly wouldn't call it factual. More like one sided exaggerated propaganda from people who are caught in a cycle of, "Poor me." But it is the only leverage they have to demand something for nothing. It took 60,000 years to invent sticks. Along came colonisation and ingenuity which now provides free education, free Medicare, free housing and free money. Billions every year is given to indigenous help organisations. But these indigenous groups refuse to be held accountable, refuse to let white people help and don't provide help for the most marginalised in their community. They hate colonisation yet use half-truths to demand more and more of what colonisation has provided and that is money. So if they want more money, don't be a hypocrite. Stop whinging, stop being a victim and do something for yourself by getting a free education, live in the present and get a job. You are not doing your children any favours teaching them to be resentful victims living in the past. The problem is a cultural attitude. The Jewish culture, Asian culture and Indian culture have migrated around the world with nothing and thrived. We should all adopt the best of any culture if it helps us and if it doesn't work, leave it behind.

I love the movie. Everything about it reminds me of my many short visits to India. Everything is dirty. The protagonist is dirty, his teeth are dirty. The dirt where he lives is smooth and compacted. The dirty holy Ganges river has what looks like a dead body floating downstream. The mass of people congregating and spilling on the roadway. The cows everywhere. The deceit and lies is all part of poor Indians trying to find their next meal. Cars careering around like maniacs is so India. Only thing missing was the red Beetle nut stains all over the streets and the real poor using their own waste as fire blocks. The desperation to survive was more evident in India than it was in the whole 3 years I spent, in the poverty stricken Philippines. Where else can you see people sweep dirt and dust? Stayed in the Janpath Hotel in Dehli, which at the time was one of the better hotels. The waiters uniform had food and bits of egg on it. His tea towel hanging over his arm had food on it. That was India. You don't need to go to India to see India, just watch White Tiger. You don't have to go to India anymore to experience a good curry or Tandoori Chicken either. Not to mention the Samosas, Dahl or Chapati. I've watched White Tiger twice so far. It really immerses you in the struggle of so many, which is sad but true and the scenery is so India. Just remembered all the peacock fans, soapstone Taj Mahals, the Cobra and Mongoose fights and the Elephants. Maybe they're a thing of the past.

Movie was completely unnecessary. Hard to imagine two 10 year olds doing something like that. But why re-enact the interview of two desperate 10 year olds? The truth is usually somewhere in between what is reported. We'll never know the real truth, so don't make a supposed true re-enactment from a strangers version of Chinese Whispers. Did this doco make James Bulger's mother feel better? Only positive thing that could have come out of it. Would unwatch it if I could.
