Not sure why this is 3/5 stars... I love horror movies and this was great, especially if you're just looking for an adrenaline rush. My only complaints come from the underdeveloped plot and the end. It's hard to find horror movies that are actually scary without digging around, so this was refreshingly easy to access. It shares similar vibes to The Babadook, which I thought was a large metaphor for mental health struggles. I might be reaching but I feel like there is a deeper message here. Confronting emotions that linger in the dark? Maybe the boogeyman is a mental health crisis? Watch it and form your own opinions. I cannot handle more of the same movies, so we need to encourage things that are a bit different. Also, huge credit to the cast. Vivien Lyra Blair is a fantastic child actress and Sophie Thatcher killed it.
