Gladiator is my second favourite film ever. This is just forgettable. For the first half hour I thought I was going to enjoy it but then I noticed how wooden the lead actor was. Every time he spoke in that dull, monotone, overly southern accented voice it took me right out of the film. In the original film Maximus deservedly earned the respect of the other gladiators. In Gladiator 2 the lead simply seems to be lauded and cheered for no real reason. He doesn't do anything that sets him apart from any other gladiator. It felt very Mary sue. Denzel Washington I can't figure the fuss about. His accent is out of place. I always feel he acts the same and is no different in this. About two thirds in I felt the pacing was all over the place so I lost interest and just wanted to leave. I saw it through but wasn't really taking notice. I could go on but positives were Pedro Pascal who is always great. And though a lot didn't like the twins, I thought they were good characters and acted well. Disappointing, some films don't need sequels
