There was so much done well in this movie, and there hasn't been many good films lately, that I feel compelled to give The Batman five stars despite serious flaws in the story and characters.
Without giving away spoilers, we're asked to believe a mob club that has been operating for decades with off duty police as bouncers and Gotham's power elite attending went unnoticed. That thin Bruce Wayne is the brutal and bruising Batman. That the catwoman's father is both aware and unaware of who she is. That during flooding security would gather local leaders below street level in an arena that has stands safely above flood level. The list goes on, but you get the idea.
On the technical side, it's well paced, well shot and for the most part well acted (more so by the villains then the heroes).
Five Stars on the covid curve grading system. Three and a half under normal standards.
