I have read all three of the “Love & …” books by Jenna Evans Welch, so I was super excited to see that “Love & Gelato” was made into a Netflix movie. I fell in love with the books and their cute YA romance storylines. I shouldn’t have been surprised that the movie would be so far off from the book and lack in any sort of depth. The true message was lost behind a plot line that moved too quickly to develop any emotional connection to the characters and their plights. Netflix would have done better to focus more on the relationship between Lina and Howard, which is done beautifully in the novel. Do yourself a favor and spend two hours reading the book and avoid watching the movie at all costs as you will be wishing you were re-reading the book instead.
