2007's "The Mist" is a criminally underrated psychological-horror movie set in Bridgeville, Maine during the 1980s. Some may argue that the acting is a bit rough, although I believe that's what the directors were going for. The practical effects worked brilliantly alongside the CGI, the monsters were convincing and the gore was realistic. The set pieces were amazing, especially the supermarket (where most of the movie takes place). The character progression is natural, and the ending brought me to tears. If you're in the mood for trauma and nightmares, this is the movie for you.
