Elderly abuse/taking advantage of the elderly, and dishonest nursing homes are obviously a real life problem. But what psychopath decided to turn that into a movie that's allegedly also supposed to be witty and fun? I was so depressed within the first five minutes that I almost turned it off, but decided to give it a shot. After 30 minutes, I sensed I was really not going to like where it was heading, so I paused it to read the spoilers. And never unpaused. After a depressing year, I need something with a happy, or at least satisfying, ending. Not even Marla's death fits that bill, because it means that poor man is going to jail, and Fran, while deprived of her true love, can still continue in this despicable scheme.
Also, from what I read, Jennifer just kind of ... fades out of the plot? Seems like rather poor writing to just cut out a character who is the driving force behind the events that make up the story. When you read the description of the movie, it leads one to believe that Jennifer herself will be the main player against Marla, but instead she's more of a background character.
