I have watched the first two episodes twice each and so far there is more to dislike than to like in this show.
Diversity/Representation - I support diversity and representation in modern media as long as it does not seem forced and so far I did not notice that in this series. No issues here.
Gratuitous naked Jedi torso - why? a "nod" to Ben Solo? And the "get dressed" line to make fun of both characters simultaneously? HAHAHAHA - oh writers, you so funny! NOT!
Regurgitated dialogue - Stop using "I have a bad feeling about this" in Star Wars movies/shows/etc. Just. Stop. At least change it up - "I am not sure i like where this is going" or "This doesn't feel like a good idea".
Stupid Jedi - not every Jedi will be super-smart, clever, nor a keen strategist and we need to have some that possess a little "angst" or a bit more emotion or not fully aligned but still going along with it.
I am okay with the first fight scene ending with KAM's death but not how it happened. The character clearly portrayed she knew what Mae was going to do - throw the knife as yet another distraction - and so did the audience. Can a jedi only use one hand at a time or only together? Self-sacrifice to save an innocent is also a plausible explanation but not like this. She didn't even move.
This death could have been done in a more convincing way. Instead of the next knife finding its mark, the Jedi stops that one too. Or just dodges it and it lodges in the wall. Then Mae pulls the knife back toward her and it lodges in KAM's spine. Not great but better than the trash they wrote for us fans.
Also, Jedi do not attack - period. oh, and, a jedi can pull a lightsaber to make light, to block blaster fire, to cut an opening, and other passive reasons.
World Building - reviewers keep using this word. I do not think it means what they think it means. The "world" is already built - the lackluster director simply needed to bring it to the screen.
On a second viewing i could explain away some of the negative items but more just came up to replace them.
I have read this was a 180 million dollar project...? I do not see how.
This seemed like a rushed project and I am disappointed with the product so far. I love the Star Wars world and the wonderful potential it has available to be leveraged and built.
This was a great opportunity to further build out an established but still not over-worked era. I would even be okay with a slow build-up or a documentary-like show as long as we get a strong story with believable (in-world) actions and the love and attention the fans expect.
Lee Jung-jae's portrayal of the Jedi was spot-on and makes me want to keep watching. Dafne Keen is doing well, especially given the trash she was fed to spout on camera.
I have so much hate for the director and writer right now that it just cannot be put into words. *breathe...find the balance* okay. i'm okay. it is just a terrible show. move on.
