Fascinating and curious / frustrated both with myself and with media etc. that Margaret Trudeau’s story as fascinating and eye opening as it is & as famous and as public as a figure she has been for decades that this & her story, her advocacy work hasn’t gotten more attention.
Had I come across this some 15 years ago it could have had a profound impact on my life.
Instead the health care system, society, friends, family, employers & insurance providers have all played a part in deterring any recovery, choosing instead to support the systemic & often brutal treatment at the hands of our health care system.
‘You must comply with the experts’ blissfully ignoring the human & legal rights violations and detrimental treatment designed to ensure recovery is not possible, as that would contradict their messaging and complete lack of basis in fact, nor supported by science or research.
But good for continued government funding & corporate and private donation dollars that can be used to project mental illness onto more & more adults and now children alike. Which is really good for big pharma & so-called ‘leaders’ in psychiatry, an area of medicine with a long history of marginalizing women and more recently men & children of all genders too.
