I have recently come to Stella via the box set DVD - the phrase is so often bandied about but this show really is one of the best TV series ever. As creator and cornerstone of the ensemble piece, Ruth Jones is peerless, a great writer and actor, and the show perfectly combines tears and laughter. Would thoroughly recommend it. I give this show 5 stars - only because I can't give it any more!

One of few panel games worth watching - very funny BUT one or two grumbles: why does Rob say "to make things harder" (harder than what? they haven't done anything yet so nothing to compare) "the contestants have no idea what they'll face" when they obviously do know, and the final round he claims is against the clock; er, no, it isn't! Apart from that, great rants and very entertaining :-)

Subtly played, understated and genuinely funny, this was such a little gem! What a pity it has never been released on DVD. Catch it if you can
