There is a big problem I see with the character quirks. There is a common theme among many characters in this and the related franchises. Characters in the show get huge breaks in their careers, and I mean breaks which people rarely get in real life, and then they proceed to screw up everything based on a sudden whim. And they keep getting break after break. Either these characters are extraordinarily talented (I could imagine one character (Walt) to have extraordinary ability, but not each and every important one) , that chances keep begging even after deliberate career sabotages, or this is some quirk of the writer’s mind. These characters will do impulsive b.s exactly at the wrong time and screw up everything. These characters have gigantic egos, are arrogant and have little care for fairness towards their employers/people giving them the chances. I am talking about Jimmy, Kim, Mike, Ziegler, etc. It is not even ambition that’s driving them. Whatever is the reason, it is annoying and unrealistic, which takes the sheen away from the show. For me a great show is when the writer can spin off interesting plots from regular lives.
