Movie: Unhinged.
Me and my friend Nick saw this film this afternoon at the Regal IMAX 16 theater at City Centre in downtown Stockton, CA. My God, this film is riveting and disturbing for even the seasoned movie goer. It will affect you. It also may be a mirror image of where we are as a human race with a fictional yet familiar story of human rage and its immediate damaging affects, and how people are suffering the pressures of life with the aloneness of mental illness. I didn’t know what to expect as we both made a spontaneous decision to take advantage of going to the movies today. We both enjoy film, and the public movie experience. It also happens that the Regal theater in downtown Stockton opened yesterday at 5pm, and it was time to go out and enjoy the experience again. I tell you that we were shell-shocked during the film, and I felt paralyzed realizing that my eyes and mouth had been open wide at times, and my body rigid from its shocking affect. Also, I allowed myself to make a personal connection in that I have at times felt similar effects of being out of control and alone, and it scared me. I allowed myself to assess or reflect on similar personal situations in the past. What especially worried me is being aware of our current social climate, and it led to my fright. I saw some aspects of this film message that I can certainly and honestly relate to, and by the time we exited the theater entrance, I was emotionally distraught-in tears weeping. This film is strong and will move you. I recommend it for its powerful presence and message. The films effect are strong, and It will keep you in your seat. You will think about this film especially the next time you’re behind the wheel of an automobile. I had to pause before leaving my seat and just try to relax. I walked slowly out of the stadium and out of the theater. We proceeded next door to a favorite of ours:Misaki Sushi and Bar, and directly had a much needed cocktail before and during our dinner outside this evening.
