As a 58 yr old white guy from rural Britain, who is not a fan of Punk music, has no knowledge of Muslim communities, and who doesnt particularly like bad language, I should hate this show.
BUT I LOVE IT.
It drags you in from the first scene, and by the end of the second episode you are hooked.
Brilliant acting, great script and dialogue. Every character feels real.
You see their inner struggles and root for every single one of them.
I binged both series back to back, and keep replaying some of the great songs:
Glass ceiling feeling - is so powerful and brilliantly sung
Malala made me do it - is just great fun - how they all kept a straight face I dont know.
Even the cover versions of Oops I did it again, 9 to 5, and We are the Champions are fresh and vibrant.
Congratulations to all involved - a truly great piece of TV.
Oh - and I now have my 89 year old mother hooked too - and by all rights she should hate this.
