This movie is inspired from many Tamil movies such as Devar Magan(Rayappan bigil scenes), Baasha(Interval block), Raja rani(Marriage scene), Irudhi Suttru (motivation) , Kanaa(similarity in match concept ) , Chak de India(countless scenes) , Dangal (where bigil gets arrested during match), Anjaan (kidnapping sheroff) , Nayagan (emotion between father and son), Vallinam (Blackmail) , Bhadri (coach gets attacked by goons) and M Kumaran. Atlee again proves that the story doesn't matter when you have star power like Vijay on board .. ARR rahman wasted big time, Audience taken for granted since football scenes looks VFX and uninspiring , lot of characters were un utilised, Vijay has a lot of scope to perform but storyline doesn't empower women rather humiliates womenhood . Overall below average movie which only entertains hardcore vj fans.
