I read this book after reading similar fantasy novels such as Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames and The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman. It has a similar reluctant hero vibe, and I’d place it in the middle of the other 2 respectively if I had to rank them.
The Coward opens with a line that is sure to draw you in, and it spins an incredible world for its heroes to traverse. I love the themes, the depth of the characters (even the side characters), and the intrigue at several points.
Definitely worth the money to own a copy. And worth every second spent reading it.
