Spends a lot of time dwelling on the fantasy and hype she put out about herself in a way that sort of- legitimizes it? And then suggests the only problem was that she 'over-promised', and keeps sort of suggesting that this was an oversold product rather than something that DIDN'T EXIST. She did not have the technology and run into issues fine tuning it. She had an imaginary product. She never knew how to make this happen, she didn't even seem to have the education and common sense to recognize issues. She didn't have any kind of training or understanding. She had the fantasy of being some world-changing genius. She wanted all the benefits of presenting a world changing project without ever having or even understanding what was necessary for the project.
I was shocked how little consideration was given to the fact that this is a rich, privileged girl who leaned on family connections and fast talking to raise a ridiculous amount of money for a product she didn't have. Didn't even know how to build. Didn't even bother going to school to learn how the existing machines worked. She's a con artist, but also the tiniest bit of digging could make it clear that she was lying. A bunch of very rich people trusted in each others' opinions rather than asking even basic questions. She is so flat and unappealing and the coverage seems to be trying desperately to convince us that she has some kind of hypnotic charm. I'm sure she could be charming, but if she wasn't rich and connected she never could have pushed this scam. She seems obsessed with appearances and self-congratulations, and so into this fantasy of being some kind of genius dropout story that she didn't even try slightly to actually build something useful. She wants to be some kind of Jesus character and this film still pushes a little of that. I think it comes off really unconvincing. She's just a liar rich enough to get away with it for a long time.
