As someone who was hooked to this series from the start, I was very much looking forward to this book! Having read it, I'll say this - 1. I had very different expectations from this book based on the title solely & from Dark Age's ending. The plot in which Pierce Brown took this book was definitely not one I anticipated, but was an interesting journey. 2. Characters were always met with some crossroad & the choices some of them made, makes you wonder if you'd do the same or something else. *** SPOILERs AHEAD*** 3. I was not prepared for that ending. It honestly had me heartbroken & sobbing for two whole days! I wish the author would have taken a different route, one where he didn't kill this character off. It's a bittersweet moment because you know the good & bad things the character has done throughout the series, yet can't help but feel sorry about the loss :( May he RIP.

A colleague recommended me this book and I thought, sure why not? Little did I know 6 months later I'd have read all the following books to the series, being completely HOOKED!!!!!! A couple things as to why I got hooked: 🌟 Great character development over the series. - I cannot emphasize enough how important this was to keeping me engaged and relatable to the characters. I felt connected & emotionally invested in the story throughout. ↩️ Plot twists!! - Just when you think you know "ok, I can see where this is heading"... NOPE! - The overall storyline is great & so is the plot ❤️ Good relationships - I found myself loving all types of relationships amongst characters (romantic, brotherly, friendly, & hatred) This is the first book of the series & yes, it has that "Hunger Games" X "Game of Thrones" vibes.. but trust me, the other books evolve and reflect very much of society related issues in an interesting way.
