I am in my 30s and read the series in middle school. Disappointed to say the least. Along side feeling outdated, it just fell flat. Some scenes felt cheesy and repetitive to sit through, while other scenes pulled their weight. Dr.Cable was absolutely worth the watch, capturing the character perfectly, however the overall shallow feel to this adaptation could not be overlooked and it destroyed the immersion. Too much explaining. Spoon feeding the plot. Lazy. The wilderness montage? This movie felt like a clone of many generic teen sci-fi movies, and couldn’t even stand out among the lesser meaningful, stories such as the Divergent series. Uglies had a deeper more relatable plot and everyone involved in making this, just let it down. Burry this disappointment, so the series can maintain its dignity.
