Grand Hotel combines the formula Procol Harum used in the early days , but sounding a bit more modern .
The addition of choir on "TV Ceasar" and the title track is outstanding and actually quite brilliant. Much of the composition is impressive as the melody and structure are emotional beauty such as Fires (Which Burnt Brightly).
"Bringing Home The Bacon" is reminiscent of a Rock style which was often present when Robin Trower was in the band.
Albums like HOME, BROKEN BARRICADES and EXOTIC BIRDS AND FRUIT seemed to take a subtle change in direction. Grand Hotel felt like the band returned to their roots . Grand Hotel is theatrical and the essence of theater or play is felt through the undertone of the music.
