Ghost Protocol does not disappoint. Love that Simon Pegg is now a field agent. Jeremy Renner's character and Agent Carter are great additions to the team as well. This is probably the funniest film in the franchise so far. It's weird to say since it's the 4th film but I feel like the series found its identity with this one. The first 3 are very different from one another. This one has just the right balance of tone, action, comedic moments, and suspense. They finally found the right formula. Still don't know what the hell the "rabbits foot" was and the situation with Ethan and his wife confuses me. But this was a very cool movie. I'm excited to watch the next 4.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

Great movie. Number 2 was it's own thing but I think this was a major step up in quality. Hoffman is a great bad guy. In a way I can't explain. The story is complicated AF and one character even says so as if the writers are saying it to the audience. It's nice that they were self aware at least. It's a little all over the place and they never even say what the macguffin actually is. It's just referred to as the "rabbits foot". Ethan Hunt is put through all kinds of hell and should have died like 20 times. But he's an action hero so of course he walks away just fine. But the movie succeeds in drawing you in more effectively than the second one did. His combat and espionage skills were a little too perfect in the second one. You never really felt like he was in danger because he would just flip around and shoot his way out. This one keeps you guessing and feeling the danger and the stakes. I feel like the modern Bond and John Wick films may have drawn inspiration from this one. Great flick. I'm gonna watch number 4 now. Ghost Protocol. See you in my next Google review. ✌️

Mission: Impossible III

"Action Movie" ass action movie. This movie has action. If there is an "Action Movie" trope you can think of... it is in this movie. All that John Woo slo-mo "guy spinning around shooting 2 guns while doves fly away" shit is here. Multiple guys with full-auto rifles shooting at a wide open target miss every shot but Tom spins around and hits them dead on with a pistol from 100 yards away. Classic. Lots of misogynistic lines about how Thandie Newton is perfect for the job because the job is having sex and lying to a man. Anthony Hopkins literally says "She's a woman. She has all the training she'll ever need." And later the bad guy is like "Women are just like monkeys. They won't let go of one branch until they've got hold of the next." The catalyst to the plot literally revolves around the bad guy's weakness of desperately needing to bust a nut with his ex while he's in the middle of acquiring and selling a super virus. My guy couldn't just wait until the deal was done. He needs Thandie's candy and he needs it right now. But he doesn't even get to smash because of course Tom Cruise was hitting it after one little car chase. They share maybe 3 minutes of time talking and one off-screen Slam Sesh and they are both immediately willing to die for each other. Tale as old as time. Thandie literally shoots some kind of Super Coronavirus right into her veins like a veteran smack addict just to give Cruise a moment to escape gunfire. She is so ride-or-die for this man after he gave her the best D of her life in a cheap trucker motel. Top Notch Action Flick. Not as good as the first but it's solid. Although I would only watch this again if it's playing on basic cable and I have absolutely no access to internet.
