I thought it to be an accurate depiction of a middle aged man going though andropause.
It felt familiar... As though I knew him personally.
My heart went out to Stiller's character and I found myself wanting to comfort and reassure him of his past and current accomplishments.
It was satisfying to see how he came to terms with himself.
Also, his relationship with his son was not candy coated, which I appreciated.
Realistic.
