As a viewer who enjoys this genre of movie I left me wondering what it was all about. Was it about self mutilation or just insanity brought about through isolation. I’m not sure and care even less. The plot was one continuous line in only one direction and yes it got there in the end, a dead donkey who bit off more than he could chew and a fingerless fiddler. On saying that the atmospheric plot was delivered perfectly by a very strong cast with faultless performances by all.
